Kimberly Hudson is Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Claritas Creative, a visual-centric communications agency in Arlington, VA. She has more than a decade of experience leading teams in visual communication strategy and delivery to support marketing, advocacy and strategic communications functions. Claritas Creative puts creative at the center of the communications process, delivering visuals that engage, inform and inspire.
She earned a bachelor of fine arts in applied media arts; graphic design from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and a master of fine arts in integrated design from the University of Baltimore.
Prior to Claritas Creative, Kimberly served America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) as Deputy Director of Digital Media Strategy, the leading health insurance trade association in Washington D.C. for more than five years following the passage of the landmark Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
At AHIP Kimberly worked across multiple departments to identify strategic areas for digital content development. She crafted visual content to explain elements of the healthcare law to membership, stakeholders, Capitol Hill, and the public. In conjunction with senior leadership she applied her talents to address critical marketing, revenue generation, membership, and advocacy challenges. She also oversaw all aspects of conference digital media revenue generation, digital sponsorship opportunities, and digital/in-person conference experience and engagement.
Early in her career, Kimberly held positions as a graphic design specialist at Corporate Executive Board and as a special projects assistant at Vanguard Communications.
Kimberly also serves as Vice President of the Parent Advisory Council that supports the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and developed “NICU Connect: A Visual Communications Toolkit for Caregivers of Infants Requiring Care in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.”
Kimberly founded Claritas Creative Foundation (a 501(c)3) in 2017 to formalize support for causes including support for women entrepreneurs, critically ill and premature infants and their families, and supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through arts inclusion in public education advocacy. Kimberly serves as an ABLEnow ambassador, providing information to families of individuals with disabilities on the latest development in special needs saving plans that provide greater financial security and a better quality of life for people with disabilities.
